A great covering letter

I’m talking about some one else’s covering letter, unfortunately. Mine’s not great, at least not yet, perhaps not ever. They’re just hard. After a day of wrestling with mine, I feel about my letter the way Winston felt about writing a book:

Writing a book is an adventure. To begin with it is a toy and an amusement. Then it becomes a mistress, then it becomes a master, then it becomes a tyrant. The last phase is that just as you are about to be reconciled to your servitude, you kill the monster and fling him to the public.

Winston Churchill

Not quite ready to fling my letter at Automattic. Especially as I have an idea of the sort of standard I should be aiming for. Take a look at Spen Taylor’s effort – which worked, unsurprisingly.
